Jaipur Dance Conclave 2026

India’s stage for Dance, Dialogue and Discovery

India has one of the world’s richest and most diverse dance traditions. From classical forms shaped over centuries to vibrant folk traditions, contemporary practices and emerging expressions, dance has always been a way of telling our stories, carrying our histories and connecting communities.

And yet, the dance landscape in India remains largely fragmented. Artists, traditions, audiences, educators, scholars and young practitioners often inhabit separate spaces. There are festivals that celebrate individual forms, performances that showcase exceptional artists, and institutions that support learning—but very few platforms that bring these worlds together.

Jaipur Dance Conclave was conceived to create that space.

Now in its second edition, JDC is evolving as a national platform that brings together performance, dialogue, discovery and participation. It is a place to experience exceptional dance, but also to ask questions, exchange ideas, learn from masters, discover unfamiliar traditions and encounter new ways of thinking about movement.

At its heart, JDC believes that dance is not only something to be watched. It is something to be experienced, understood, discussed and passed on.

More than a festival

The Conclave brings together performances alongside conversations, workshops, masterclasses, demonstrations and opportunities for interaction. It creates space for established masters and emerging practitioners, traditional forms and contemporary voices, artists and audiences, young learners and experienced practitioners.

Through this approach, JDC hopes to make dance more accessible and relevant to a wider audience—while creating meaningful opportunities for the dance community itself to connect and collaborate.

Celebrating tradition. Encouraging discovery.

India’s dance heritage is vast, living and constantly evolving. JDC seeks to celebrate this richness while looking beyond familiar boundaries.

The programme brings together diverse forms, practices and perspectives, allowing audiences to encounter both the known and the unexpected. Alongside celebrated artists, the Conclave creates space for conversations around the contexts, histories and ideas that shape dance today.

The intention is not simply to preserve traditions, but to keep them alive—through practice, transmission, dialogue and new generations of practitioners and audiences.

A space for learning and participation

JDC places learning at the heart of the experience.

Workshops and masterclasses open up opportunities for audiences, students and young practitioners to engage directly with artists and teachers. Children’s programming introduces younger audiences to the joy and vocabulary of movement. Intergenerational exchanges allow knowledge and experience to travel from one generation to the next.

In doing so, the Conclave aims to build not only audiences for dance, but a deeper and more connected dance community.

Why Jaipur?

A city with a deep cultural history and a growing contemporary arts ecosystem, Jaipur has become a meeting point for literature, visual arts, music, heritage and ideas. Its location, character and cultural energy make it an ideal stage for bringing together artists and audiences from across India.

JDC seeks to add another dimension to this landscape—placing dance at the centre of a larger cultural conversation.

Looking Ahead

The second edition of Jaipur Dance Conclave continues this journey.

The 2026 programme is taking shape around artists, ideas, traditions and conversations that reflect the breadth and dynamism of Indian dance. As the programme evolves, new performances, workshops, collaborations and voices will be added to the Conclave.

Ultimately, JDC aspires to become more than an annual event.

It seeks to build an ecosystem around dance—one that celebrates excellence, encourages curiosity, creates dialogue, nurtures participation and carries India’s extraordinary dance traditions into the future.
